Joining the circus

A year ago I changed my focus,
I had quit my job for bigger things,
I ran away to join the circus!
And since then I’ve lived out my dreams.
I’ve met people off the telly,
Someone actually paid for me to fly!
Worked some amazing shows,
Even the pinnacle that was Dubai!
We find ourselves locked away
With almost no hope in sight
“We’re in it together”, so they say,
Trying to defend our plight.
Some of us feel trapped,
Others are off to work,
Some have even been sacked,
But some enjoy the perks.
I do miss brushing shoulders,
With strangers at the show,
Respecting the retired soldiers,
At the Chelsea Flower Show.
These 4 walls seem to get tighter,
But in reality I’m probably just bored,
Perhaps later I’ll feel better,
When I’m done bouncing wall to wall.
Lessons are learned by everyone,
We’re all planning ahead.
What will we do when this is all done,
Let’s be honest, we’ll still be in bed!
It’d be nice to plan a local holiday,
But we don’t know when this will end,
It’s nice to plan trip away,
Maybe finally see that friend?
I’d be happy to get back to work,
Mingle with some colleagues,
I’d be happy to enjoy the perks,
Of watching the Damn premier league!
Not to worry, I’ll be back to the old me,
There’s no doubt about that,
But I do wonder if the old me,
Was maybe a little less fat
